PTE Write From Dictation Predictions: June 2026
Write From Dictation (WFD) is one of the highest-scoring tasks in PTE Academic. It appears at the end of the Listening section and simultaneously feeds into both your Listening and Writing communicative scores — making it a double-value task. Getting WFD right can push a borderline score over your target, while getting it consistently wrong drags down two sections at once.
This page gives you the complete June 2026 WFD prediction list: 7 brand-new sentences appearing for the first time this month, plus 266 high-frequency prediction sentences from the official Weekly Study File. Use this list for daily active recall practice, spelling drills, and sentence retention training.

Private 1-on-1 mentorship (Rs 15,000) with Sydney/Melbourne/Toronto/Doha-friendly slots — coach-until-target.
For Nepali students targeting Australia PR, AHPRA nursing, Canadian study permits, or UK visa PTE requirements, WFD is one of the fastest-improving tasks available. Unlike speaking tasks, it does not test your pronunciation. Every mark here comes from accurate recall, word order, and spelling — all trainable with a structured prediction list.
How Write From Dictation Works
- What happens: You hear a sentence once through your headphones. You type it exactly as heard — every word, in the correct order, with correct spelling.
- Scoring: Each correctly placed word earns 1 point. Partial credit applies — getting 6 of 9 words right still earns 6 marks.
- Tip: Capitalisation and punctuation are not penalised. Focus entirely on correct words and correct order.
- Number of items per exam: Typically 3–4 WFD sentences per test.
- Double score impact: Results feed into both Listening and Writing communicative scores.

How to Practise WFD Effectively
Method 1: Cover-and-Write
Read a sentence from this list once, cover it, and write it from memory. Compare word by word. This simulates the exam condition of hearing a sentence exactly once.
Method 2: Audio Recording Practice
Record yourself reading a sentence at natural speed on your phone. Play it back and type what you hear. This builds the listen-then-type muscle memory the exam requires.
Method 3: Chunking Long Sentences
For sentences with 10+ words, break them into 3-word mental chunks as you listen. Rehearse this chunking technique with longer sentences from this list before exam day.
Method 4: Spelling Drills on Difficult Words
Identify the 3 hardest words to spell in each sentence. Write those words 5 times each. Common failure points: "auditorium," "experimental," "dissertation," "infrastructure," "approximately," "particularly."
Common Mistakes Nepali Students Make in WFD
- Missing small words: Articles (a, an, the), prepositions (in, on, at, for), and conjunctions (and, but, because) — each omitted word costs one mark
- Phonetic spelling from Nepali accent: Words like "approximately," "environmental," "compulsory," and "particularly" are frequently misspelled
- Typing word by word: Trying to type each word immediately causes you to miss the next — hold the whole sentence in short-term memory first, then type
- Ignoring singular/plural: "student" vs "students," "result" vs "results" — PTE marks each word position separately
- Confusing homophones: "complement/compliment," "principle/principal," "their/there" — listen carefully to context
Tips for Nepali Students
- Accent awareness: PTE uses international accents (Australian, British, American, Indian). Train your ear daily with mixed-accent audio
- University vocabulary dominates: About 60% of WFD sentences are set in academic or university contexts. Memorise the top 50 academic collocations: submit assignment, attend lecture, complete coursework, meet deadline
- New sentences first: The 7 new sentences in June have a higher likelihood of appearing. Spend the first study day on these alone
- Exam strategy: Start writing as soon as you have a secure grasp of the full sentence — don't wait for the audio to finish if you are already losing the beginning
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I get penalised for wrong words in WFD?
No. WFD uses positive-only scoring. Each correctly placed word earns a point. Wrong or extra words do not subtract marks. Never leave a WFD blank — even writing 4 or 5 correct words earns partial marks.
Does capitalisation matter in WFD?
No. PTE's automated scoring does not penalise capitalisation errors in WFD. Write everything in lowercase if it helps you type faster. Focus entirely on correct words and correct order.
How long are WFD sentences in the actual exam?
Sentences typically range from 7 to 14 words. Practise holding 12-word sentences in working memory using the longer sentences on this list.
How many WFD tasks appear in one PTE exam?
Most PTE Academic exams contain 3–4 Write From Dictation tasks. Because each correct word scores 1 mark, WFD is one of the highest mark-density tasks in the exam — worth serious daily practice time.
Can I improve WFD significantly in one week?
Yes. WFD responds quickly to focused practice because it tests recall and spelling of a predictable domain of academic sentences. Students who practise actively from a prediction list for 5–7 days consistently report noticeable improvement on exam day.
Conclusion
The June 2026 WFD prediction list contains 273 sentences — 7 brand new and 266 high-frequency recurring predictions. University and academic context sentences dominate (about 60%), followed by science/environment and media/technology themes.
For Nepali students, WFD is one of the most trainable tasks in PTE Academic. Practise the 7 new sentences first, then work through the themed lists daily. Focus on accurate spelling, retaining small function words, and holding full sentences in memory before you start typing.
