PTE Academic Exam Day Checklist — Nepal 2026

Exam day is not the time to discover you forgot something important. This complete checklist covers everything Nepali students need to bring, know, and expect on PTE Academic exam day — from the moment you leave home to the moment your results are sent.

What to Bring — Mandatory

Government-Issued Photo ID (Required)

You must bring the exact same government-issued photo ID you used when registering your Pearson VUE account. The most common and safest option:

1-on-1 Mentorship

Stuck below your target? The 79+ Sprint

Private 1-on-1 mentorship (Rs 15,000) with Sydney/Melbourne/Toronto/Doha-friendly slots — coach-until-target.

  • Passport (strongly recommended) — must be current (not expired), must show your full name, date of birth, and photo

If you used your passport to register but bring a citizenship card on exam day, you will be denied entry. The name on your ID must match exactly the name in your Pearson account — including spelling, order, and middle names if registered.

Verify before leaving home:

  • Is your passport valid?
  • Does the name on your passport match your Pearson account exactly?
  • Is your booking confirmation showing the same name?

Your Booking Confirmation

Bring a printed copy or have the booking confirmation email accessible on your phone. You will need the booking reference number at check-in. Test centres in Nepal may ask to see it.

What NOT to Bring Into the Test Room

The following items are not permitted in the PTE Academic test room:

  • Mobile phones (must be turned off and stored in a locker)
  • Smart watches or any electronic devices
  • Bags, backpacks, or purses
  • Food or beverages (including water)
  • Study materials, notes, books
  • Earphones or personal headsets
  • Jewellery that might interfere with headset fit (large earrings)

The test centre provides: a secure locker for your belongings, a headset, scratch paper and pen, and a computer station.

Arrival Time

  • Arrive 30 minutes before your scheduled exam time
  • Check-in takes 10-15 minutes (ID verification, photo, signature, locker assignment)
  • Late arrivals may be denied entry without refund
  • If you are more than 15 minutes late, contact your test centre immediately

What Happens During Check-In

  1. Present your government-issued photo ID
  2. The test centre staff verify your identity against your booking
  3. Your photo is taken (used for verification on the score report)
  4. You sign a form acknowledging exam rules
  5. Your belongings are stored in a provided locker
  6. You are seated at your computer station

At your computer station, you will have a brief tutorial introducing the exam interface before the actual test begins. Complete the tutorial even if you are familiar with the format — it confirms your audio and microphone are working correctly.

The Exam Experience — What to Expect

  • Duration: Approximately 2 hours for the full PTE Academic exam (Speaking & Writing → Reading → Listening)
  • Other candidates speaking: You will hear other candidates speaking aloud for their Speaking tasks. This is normal — the test centre is not silent during Speaking sections. Noise-cancelling headsets are provided.
  • No breaks: There is no scheduled break during the exam. The only pause is the optional 10-minute break between the Writing and Reading sections (if offered at your test centre — not all centres offer this).
  • Scratch paper: Use it freely for note-taking during Listening and Speaking tasks. It is collected after the exam.

What If Something Goes Wrong?

  • Microphone not working: Raise your hand immediately. Do not continue the test with a malfunctioning microphone — your Speaking responses will not be recorded correctly.
  • Computer freezes: Raise your hand immediately. Test centre staff are trained to handle technical issues.
  • You feel unwell: You can pause and notify staff. If you cannot continue, discuss with the test centre — they have procedures for exam disruptions.
  • You accidentally click the wrong answer: For most tasks, you can change your answer before moving to the next item. Review your answer before clicking Next.

After the Exam — Results

  • PTE Academic results are typically available within 2 business days of your test date
  • You receive an email notification when results are ready
  • Log into your Pearson account to view and download your score report
  • Your score report shows communicative skill scores (Speaking, Writing, Reading, Listening) and enabling skill scores
  • Score reports can be sent electronically to institutions and immigration authorities directly from your Pearson account

Day-Before Preparation

  • Confirm your booking time and test centre address
  • Charge your phone (for checking directions and booking confirmation)
  • Get 7-8 hours of sleep — fatigue significantly affects Speaking fluency and Listening concentration
  • Do light review only — intensive practice the night before adds stress without benefit
  • Prepare your ID document and confirm it is valid
  • Plan your route and allow extra time for traffic, especially in Kathmandu

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I bring water into the PTE Academic test room?

No. Food and beverages are not permitted in the test room. If you need water, request a brief break from the supervisor and drink outside the test room.

What if my passport name has a different order than my Pearson account?

Contact Pearson VUE customer support immediately — before exam day — to correct any name mismatch. A mismatch discovered on exam day typically results in denied entry and no refund.

Can I wear a watch during the PTE Academic exam?

Standard non-digital watches are generally permitted, but smart watches (Apple Watch, Fitbit, etc.) are not. Confirm with your specific test centre if unsure.

Choose based on date availability, travel convenience, and accommodation if you are travelling from outside the city. Verify current centre availability on the official Pearson PTE website.

How to book PTE exam from Nepal?

Booking PTE Academic from Nepal is done online through Pearson's official myPTE portal. Steps: (1) create a myPTE account on the official Pearson PTE website, (2) verify your identity using your passport (the same passport must be presented on test day), (3) choose your nearest test centre — typically Kathmandu, Pokhara, or Bharatpur, (4) select an available date and time, (5) pay the test fee via card. Verify the latest booking process and fees on the official Pearson PTE website before paying.

How much does PTE cost in Nepal?
