How Many PTE Test Centres Are There in Nepal?

As of 2 October 2026, Pearson's centre feed for Nepal lists 11 PTE test centres in six cities: five in Kathmandu, two in Pokhara, and one each in Lalitpur, Chitwan, Tilottama and Itahari. Every one of them is a Pearson-authorised computer-based centre, and you book all of them through the same Pearson account.

Two corrections to lists you may see elsewhere, including an older version of this page:

• There is no Biratnagar centre and no Butwal centre in Pearson's feed. Students in the east sit at Namuna College in Itahari; students in Rupandehi sit at KCM Tilottama in Shankarnagar.
• The Chitwan centre is in Narayangarh, not Bharatpur. ACE Testing Hub's address is Sahid Chowk on the East-West Highway, Narayangarh. Our team is based in Bharatpur, so we hear this mix-up often from students planning their travel.

Centres open and close without notice. The booking screen on pearsonpte.com is the live list, so check it the day you book.

Which centres run PTE Core or PTE Academic UKVI?

Pearson's feed does not say which product each centre offers, so we will not label any centre a "PTE Core centre". When you choose PTE Core (for Canada) or PTE Academic UKVI (for the UK) in your Pearson account, the booking screen shows only the centres that have dates for that test. Check there rather than trusting a list that claims to know.

How to Choose a Centre

The centre does not change your score. Every Pearson centre uses the same test and the same scoring, so pick on logistics. These are the questions we ask students to answer before they book:

1. Which centre has a date before your deadline? Kathmandu has five centres, so it usually has the widest choice of dates. If your target date is fixed, compare all 11 on the booking screen, not just the nearest one.
2. Can you arrive 30 minutes early without stress? Pearson's test-centre rules say you must arrive at least 30 minutes before your test, and a late arrival loses the test and the fee. If you live in Butwal or Bhairahawa, Tilottama is close. If you are coming from Dharan or Biratnagar, Itahari is the realistic choice.
3. Will you need a night's stay? If a morning slot means a long bus ride the same day, book an afternoon slot or travel the day before. A tired voice costs more marks in Speaking than a hotel night costs in rupees.
4. Do you know the building? Several centres sit inside colleges. Visit, or at least look up the entrance, before test day.

How to Book Your PTE Test in Nepal

Booking is online through your Pearson (myPTE) account. In short: create the account with your name exactly as it appears on your passport, choose the test (PTE Academic, PTE Academic UKVI or PTE Core), pick a centre and date, and pay by card or an official voucher.

The fee: PTE Academic, PTE Academic UKVI and PTE Core are each listed at USD 248.60, Pearson's listed Nepal price. The rupee amount your bank debits depends on your card's exchange rate on the day, which is why we do not print a rupee figure. When to book

Pearson does not publish typical waiting times for Nepali centres; its availability checker only shows the next open slot at each centre on the day you look, so anyone quoting "two weeks in Kathmandu" is guessing. What we tell students:

• If you have a visa, admission or EOI deadline, book first and prepare second. Work back from the date your score must be in hand, not the date you feel ready.
• Leave room for one retake before any hard deadline. Many students need it, and a retake booked in a panic usually lands at the wrong centre on the wrong day.
• If no date suits you, check the other centres in the same region before giving up. Pokhara, Chitwan and Tilottama are all reachable from much of central and western Nepal.

Rescheduling and Cancelling: Pearson's Rules

Pearson's cancellation and rescheduling policy (last updated 17 September 2026) sets these rules for test takers:

Pearson may allow a free reschedule for illness or a family emergency through its Emergency Reschedule form, with evidence, submitted no later than 72 hours after the appointment. Treat that as discretion, not a right.

The practical lesson: decide by day 15 before your test. If your mock scores say you are not ready, move the date while it is still free.

What to Bring and What Happens on Test Day

Bring your valid passport. Pearson's identification policy says that for all PTE tests your ID "should be your valid passport". Alternative IDs are allowed only in a short list of countries, and Nepal is not on it, so a citizenship certificate will get you turned away at the door and you lose the fee. The name must match your booking.

What Pearson describes for check-in and the test room:

1. Arrive at least 30 minutes early and sign in at reception. Late arrivals are turned away and lose the fee.
2. ID check, photo, palm vein scan and signature. The administrator checks your passport, takes a digital photograph, scans your palm and takes your electronic signature.
3. Belongings go in a locker. Phones, notes and bags stay outside the room.
4. Your booth: a partitioned seat with a computer, keyboard, audio headset, and a notepad and pencil supplied by the centre.
5. Two hours. Pearson gives two hours for PTE Academic, PTE Academic UKVI or PTE Core.

Common Mistakes Nepali Students Make With Centres

• Booking the nearest centre without checking dates elsewhere. A centre two hours away with a date before your deadline beats the local one with nothing for six weeks.
• Booking under a nickname or a different spelling. The account name must match the passport. Fix it before you pay.
• Missing the 14-day line. After it, you cannot reschedule, and the refund halves, then disappears at 7 days.
• Travelling on the morning of the test from another district. One delayed bus means you arrive late, and late means no test.
• Searching for a "Bharatpur centre" or "Biratnagar centre". Search for Narayangarh (Chitwan) or Itahari instead.

Tips for Students Outside Kathmandu

• Chitwan: ACE Testing Hub sits on the highway at Narayangarh. From Bharatpur it is a short local trip, but leave extra time on weekday mornings.
• Pokhara: two centres, Nayabazar Road and Ratnachowk. Check both on the booking screen.
• Rupandehi and the west: KCM Tilottama in Shankarnagar is your nearest centre.
• Koshi province: Namuna College, Itahari, is the only eastern centre in the feed.
• Already in Australia? You sit the test at a Pearson centre there, not in Nepal. The booking flow is the same.
