Common questions

What does the checker tell me?

It compares your four PTE Academic scores with the Home Affairs minimums and shows the highest band all four meet: Competent (0 points), Proficient (10 points) or Superior (20 points), plus how far each skill is from the next band.

Why does it ask when I took the test?

Home Affairs changed the PTE Academic minimums on 7 August 2025. Newer tests use per-skill minimums (Superior is L69 R70 W85 S88). Tests taken before that date use the old flat 50 / 65 / 79 in each component and can be used until 6 August 2028 inclusive, depending on the visa.

Does a band match mean I am eligible for a visa?

No. The checker only matches test scores to an English band. Visa eligibility depends on much more than English. Check your own case with the Department of Home Affairs or a MARA-registered migration agent.

English-test information, not immigration assistance. This page explains which PTE Academic and IELTS scores match the English bands Home Affairs publishes. It does not tell you whether you are eligible for a visa, and a band match is not a visa outcome. Under the Migration Act 1958 (s.280) only a registered migration agent or an Australian legal practitioner may give immigration assistance. Check your own case with the Department of Home Affairs or a MARA-registered migration agent before you lodge.
