The single most expensive mistake London applicants make is booking the wrong PTE variant. Regular PTE Academic is for university admission. PTE Academic UKVI is for UK visa English. They are different products from Pearson and they sit at different centres.

If you're moving from Student route to Skilled Worker, or sponsored directly into a UK role, the Home Office requires English at CEFR B1 across the four skills (verify the current band on gov.uk for your specific route). PTE Academic UKVI is on the SELT list and is widely used by Nepali applicants because of its fast result turnaround. We build a plan around the four-skill B1 floor — clean and consistent, not lopsided.
Most Student-route applicants need to demonstrate English at CEFR B2 for degree-level study, with B1 minimum for some pre-degree pathways (verify on gov.uk and with your Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies). For visa English you'll typically need PTE Academic UKVI from a SELT centre — even if your university accepts regular PTE Academic for admission. We coach both sides so you don't pay for two retakes by mistake.
ILR applicants typically need to meet the Knowledge of Language and Life in the UK requirement — usually CEFR B1 in English plus the Life in the UK test (verify your specific category on gov.uk). For the English component, an approved SELT such as PTE Academic UKVI at B1 is widely accepted. Coaching focuses on hitting B1 cleanly across all four skills in a single sitting.
Partners of UK PR holders or British citizens generally need to show English at CEFR A1 for the initial visa, A2 for extension, and B1 by the time of ILR (verify on gov.uk for your specific category). PTE Academic UKVI A1, A2, and B1 SELT versions are options for these stages. We support all three levels with the same instructor across the journey.
Nepali nurses moving toward NMC registration need to evidence English to the NMC's standard. The NMC accepts certain English-language tests — confirm whether PTE Academic is currently on the NMC accepted-tests list and at what threshold by checking nmc.org.uk before booking, as this list has changed over time. We'll plan the right test variant once you confirm.
Most UK universities accept regular PTE Academic for admission — usually 58–65 overall depending on programme (verify with your specific university). You generally do NOT need PTE Academic UKVI for admission — you need it for the visa. Many Nepali students sit PTE Academic UKVI once and use it for both admission and visa, which is the cleanest route. Confirm with your university that the UKVI variant is acceptable for admission too.
For PTE Academic UKVI you must sit the test at an authorised SELT centre. London has multiple SELT venues, and other UK cities have backup centres if London slots are full.

For most UK visa-deadline candidates we recommend going straight to 1-on-1 — the timeline pressure rarely allows for a sequential approach.
