PTE Test Centres in Bangladesh: Dhaka, Chattogram and How to Choose

Introduction

PTE test centers in Bangladesh are few. Pearson's own centre list shows four: three in Dhaka and one in Chattogram. That short list shapes your test day more than any other detail, because for most of the country, sitting PTE means a journey.

Which centre you pick changes nothing about how your answers are scored. It changes a great deal about how rested you are when the Speaking section starts, and whether you arrive with the right document in your bag.

Where the PTE Test Centres in Bangladesh Are

Here is the list as Pearson publishes it, checked in September 2026. Addresses are shortened to the area.

Dhaka: three centres

• Daffodil International University, Mirpur Road, Dhanmondi-32.
• PIE International Education, Satmasjid Road, Dhanmondi.
• TUV SUD Bangladesh, Update Tower, Sector 6, Uttara.

Two of the three are in Dhanmondi. The third is in Uttara, in the north of the city. If you live in Uttara, Tongi or near the airport, the Uttara centre can save you well over an hour of Dhaka traffic. If you live in the south or west of the city, Dhanmondi is the easier trip. Check the route at the time of day you would travel, not the distance on a map.

Chattogram: one centre

• Mentors Education Limited, Nur Ahmed Road, off Jubilee Road.

One centre means one set of dates. In months before university intakes those dates fill first, so students in Chattogram should look at the calendar earlier than their Dhaka friends do.

No centre in Sylhet, Rajshahi or Khulna

Some third-party pages say PTE runs in Sylhet. Pearson's centre list does not show one. If you live in Sylhet, Rajshahi, Khulna, Barishal or Rangpur, plan on travelling to Dhaka or Chattogram, and treat the travel as part of the test.

Centres open, close and move without telling bloggers. Every list outside Pearson's booking screen, including this one, is a snapshot. Use it to orient yourself and use the booking screen for the answer.

How to Book PTE Test Centers in Bangladesh

Booking runs through your own Pearson account at pearsonpte.com. The order matters more than people expect.

Pick the test first, the centre second

PTE Academic, PTE Academic UKVI, PTE Core and PTE Home are separate bookings, and the centre list you see is filtered by the test you picked. A centre that runs PTE Academic does not have to run PTE Core. Academic is for Australian visas and most universities. UKVI is for UK visa routes. Core is for Canada. Home is only for UK family and settlement cases.

There is also PTE Academic Online, taken at home. Pearson states it is not currently accepted by governments for visa applications. If a visa is involved, book a test centre.

The fee is the same at every centre

Pearson lists PTE Academic in Bangladesh at USD 220, whichever centre you choose. The taka debit depends on your bank's rate on the day. Our PTE fee guide for Bangladesh covers card payments, rescores and retakes.

Book earlier than feels necessary

A seat booked three weeks out costs exactly what a seat booked three days out costs. What you lose by waiting is the choice of time. With four centres for the whole country, that choice runs out quickly.

The Passport Rule

Pearson's identification policy names a valid passport as the ID for PTE tests. A national ID card, a birth certificate or a driving licence will not get you into the room, however official it looks.

• The passport has to be physical. Pearson refuses digital IDs, photos and photocopies. A certified photocopy is still a photocopy.
• The details have to match. Name, date of birth and other details on your booking must match the passport exactly. Bangladeshi names are often written in more than one order or spelling across documents. Copy yours character by character from the passport page, not from your certificates.
• The passport has to be in your hand. Not with an agent, not at a visa centre for another application. Find out where it physically is before you pick a date.

A candidate turned away at the desk loses the fee and the date together.

Test Day at a Bangladeshi Centre

Check-in

Arrive early enough that the queue is not part of your test. Check-in involves your passport, a photograph and a signature, plus Pearson's security checks, and it runs slowly when several candidates arrive together.

Phone, watch, wallet and notes all go into a locker. You get an erasable noteboard and a pen, and that board is the only thing you write on.

The room is shared

You test alongside other candidates, and start times are staggered. The person next to you may be speaking into their microphone while you are trying to hold a Read Aloud sentence together. The headset blocks a lot of that noise. It does not block all of it.

Practise with noise on purpose. Record yourself while a fan runs, a television plays or someone talks in the next room. In most Dhaka flats that is easy to arrange.

Choosing Between Centres, and Planning the Trip

A centre cannot change your score

You will hear that one centre "gives better speaking marks". It is not true. PTE is scored by machine from your recorded audio and typed answers. Nobody at the centre marks your test.

What a centre can affect is the recording. A worn headset or a microphone at the wrong angle hurts you. If your headset sounds wrong during the setup check, tell staff before the test starts. After the test is too late.

Travelling from outside Dhaka or Chattogram

If you are coming from Sylhet, Rajshahi or Khulna, travel the day before and sleep near the centre. An overnight bus followed by a Speaking section is a scoring decision disguised as a travel decision. Keep in mind that a journey on a hartal or blockade day can take twice as long, so leave margin.

Time of day

Pick a slot that matches when you usually practise. A student who studies late at night and tests at 8am is testing half-awake.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

• Trusting a city list from an agency poster. Confirm every centre on the booking screen.
• Booking PTE Core or PTE Home by mistake. Check the test name before you pay.
• Entering your name from your certificates instead of your passport. Spelling differences are common, and the passport is what counts.
• Leaving an agent holding your passport. Get it back before test week.
• Booking before you know your gap. Your test date should follow an honest measure of your score, not a deadline.

Step-by-Step: From Choosing to Sitting

1. Confirm the test. Academic for Australia, UKVI for UK visas, Core for Canada.
2. Measure your level. A free assessment shows how far you are from your target.
3. Pick the centre by route, not by name. Uttara or Dhanmondi in Dhaka, or Chattogram.
4. Check your passport and card. Physical passport in hand, card able to pay in US dollars.
5. Book the slot that fits your energy. Morning or afternoon, based on when you practise.
6. Plan the trip. If you live outside the two cities, arrive the day before.

Notes for Nepali Students Comparing Centres

Nepal has PTE centres in six cities on Pearson's list, including Kathmandu, Pokhara and Chitwan, so a Nepali student rarely needs an overnight trip. The passport rule and the shared-room advice apply to both countries in exactly the same way.
